Blogging for money is great!

Just amazing, especially when it comes to making money online.

I say it all the time – Starting my blogging career was and still is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

With that being said – It’s not always as pretty as people try to make it look.

There are a few ugly sides to blogging that bloggers try to hide or just rarely talk about.

I decided to put the ones worth mentioning together and discuss them in one article.

So here we go…

Top 10 Ugly Things About Blogging That Bloggers Don’t Want You To Know About

Let’s start this list with an obvious one:

1. Easy? Well… Not So Fast

I know you’ve probably heard that blogging is super easy and stuff like that.

Well, let me be honest – It’s not.

But wait…

The key point here is – It is simple, but definitely not easy.

It’s all about the effort and that never comes easy.

Let’s take a look at this list for instance.

I put a lot of effort into writing it, thinking, putting it all together and promoting it so that you could be able to come around it and go through this valuable information.

That was not easy.

However,

It was pretty simple for me because I knew exactly what to do.

Simple, but not easy.

See the difference?

That brings us to the next part of this list:

2. You Need To Know Stuff

The hidden truth here is that you need to make it all – simple.

This way, your blogging journey will be all fun instead of the endless uncertainly.

And for that – you have to know what you are doing.

How?

You need the foundation, the basic knowledge (at least).

At any point in your blogging journey, knowledge will be the most important factor between success and failure.

Understanding how things work and what are your options, go a long way.

A lot of bloggers don’t really talk about that – Instead, they say that it is all easy and nothing matters other than starting a blog itself.

That’s obviously not true.

You have to know the theory first and it does take some time!

However,

We are not talking about the university level.

Simple courses and step-by-step guides for beginners will be just enough to start you blogging career.

I created a couple of free resources that are just what any beginner needs.

  • Blogging for beginners – A free blogging course.
  • 7-day start a blog course.

And this blog is all about the essentials about blogging for money as well.

3. A Lot Of People Fail

Even though we cleared it out that it can get pretty simple, that still doesn’t mean that everyone can master it or better said – understand it.

I’ve seen a lot of people starting their blogging journey, just to see that they were not really ready for it.

However, the reason behind their failure is mostly the same and is at least one of these:

  • Constant Hesitation
  • Laziness
  • Wrong Niche (check out the article on how to find a perfect niche that you won’t regret)
  • Lack Of Knowledge
  • Impatience
  • Lack Of Consistency

This list goes on and on but the main pattern stays the same – a lot of people fail, but not really because blogging is not for everyone.

Everyone can fit in, as long as they understand what it takes.

And let me tell you now – It definitely doesn’t take more than it’s worth!

4. Your Passion Might Not Be A Money-Maker (Kind Of)

A lot of people advise starting a blog based on your passion.

Also, a lot of people say that you should not start a blog based on your passion.

Yeap… That’s confusing. Which one is correct though?

Neither!

And… Both.

How is that possible?

Some people are passionate about the topics that are not really popular, while others are full of people who are hungry for the new content that you can present to them.

However – The niches with less demand are also less competitive.

I would advise beginners to stick to the basics and start a blog in a well-tested blog niche.

At least in the beginning.

It’s up to you to decide which one to choose.

In case, your passion is not that popular but you still want to make it there, don’t worry.

After all – If you are interested in a topic, there are a lot of others as well.

That’s a universal fact.

You can be successful as long as you know what you are doing. And that brings us to…

5. You Have To Know How To Sell

You want to start a successful blog, is that right?

That means that you probably want to make money out of it.

The ugly truth is – In order to make that happen, you have to be great at selling.

If you don’t know how to do it – Your blog will fail.

Don’t worry though. You don’t have to be great at it.

All you need is:

  • Have a specific niche-oriented blog (That automatically assures that your visitors are your targeted audience.)
  • Friendly, honest articles that meet your visitors’ needs.
  • Correct, tested monetization method for your audience (Check out the article about the ways to make money blogging).

6. Lots Of Screen Time

Blogging, just like anything else that has a great potential outcome, takes time.

You will have to spend a lot of time in front of your screen to make it all happen.

Especially, at the beginning.

Though there are some types of blogs that don’t really take a lot of time.

However, they are not probably going to make you tons of money in the long-term, but it doesn’t mean you should avoid enjoying some easy money.

7. The Majority Of Blogs Use The Same Strategy

Let me be honest here – The big majority of bloggers, including me, are using the same, time-proof strategy when it comes to running a blog.

This strategy is simple – Stick to the basics.

A lot of bloggers think that they need to be original and create the content that the world has never seen before and market their blog the same way.

Well… 99.9% of the time, those blogs fail.

In order to run a blog, you need to:

  • Know what people are interested in.
  • Deliver the content that they want (Not what you think they want).

This is especially important, at the beginning stages.

That’s why I highly advise to beginners:

Go through my unique, step-by-step method to make sure that you follow the strategy that is guaranteed to make your blog successful.

8. Some Things Are Just The Way They Are

As I said in the previous one, bloggers use the same strategy, over and over again.

  • Same interests,
  • Same answers.

And even though that doesn’t always sound exciting, that’s what makes your blog successful.

However, your content will still be unique as long as you try to make it unique.

Be honest, share your authentic thoughts, talk about your experience.

Just always make sure to target your energy in the correct (demanded) direction.

Your content will be popular, as long as you mix it with their essential needs.

Your visitors will appreciate your efforts!

9. Only Around 0.2-1.2 % Of Your Visitors Matter

Bloggers love their visitors.

And visitors love bloggers.

However, not all of them.

Most of your visitors will bounce off and never visit your blog.

Hurts, huh?

Well, nothing personal.

You will never be able to please everyone and not everyone is going to like your content.

That’s more than fine though.

In most cases, less than 1% of your total visitors will actually convert.

Some will just thank you for your efforts.

And honestly, even though stats are kind of ugly, they are still more than worth it.

10. Blogging Can Get Lonely

Unlike the majority of other jobs, blogging gets lonely at times.

Think about it – You are working on your own, researching, writing, promoting.

There are not a lot of people you can talk to, because others like you are usually working alone as well.

The bright side is:

You are your own boss, you are in charge of your working schedule and you set yourself the goals that will benefit – YOU!

So, honestly, I would choose blogging over any other job, any time!
